New Cruise Ship Alert – Norwegian Prima

New Cruise Ship Alert – Norwegian Prima

New cruise ship Norwegian Prima at sea

Norwegian Cruise Line recently added a stunning new cruise ship to their already expansive fleet. The Norwegian Prima is the first of six planned ships in a new class of ship by NCL, the Prima-class. Never willing to settle for less, Norwegian continues to outdo themselves with each new ship. But what makes this new vessel one of the best cruise ships to set sail? Let’s take a look at some of our favorite features that have us excited about the Norwegian Prima.

The Infinity Beach on Norwegian Prima

Infinity Beach on the new cruise ship Norwegian Prima

Located on deck 8 aft, the infinity beach on the new cruise ship can be found on either side of the ship. Each side has an infinity pool facing out toward the ocean, as well as lounge chairs and daybeds over a wading pool. We love this spot because it is generally less crowded than the normal pool deck, making it a great place to lounge around with your favorite book or just catch some rays. There are also dry slides that land here so it’s a great place to people-watch as other cruisers come down the slides while you lounge by the pool. There aren’t any drink servers that come by here, but if you don’t mind the short walk, the Local Bar and Grill is right inside the ship and you can grab a drink there to bring out with you.

The Local Bar and Grill

The Local Bar & Grill on the new cruise ship Norwegian Prima

Anyone who’s ever been on one of Norwegian’s ships before has most likely been to O’Sheehan’s. The Local Bar and Grill is the new and improved O’Sheehan’s on Norwegian Prima, and we are big fans! The eatery is open 24 hours a day serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and also a late night menu with bar snacks such as pretzel bites and chicken wings. The bar is separate from the restaurant and is decked out with chic furniture and hanging egg chairs to lounge in while you enjoy sporting events and more on the super sized tv. Even better, it is one of the complimentary restaurants on board and thus makes for a good change of pace from the main dining room.

Soilel Bar

The Soleil Bar on the new cruise ship Norwegian Prima

All the way at the back of the ship, the Soleil Bar is the perfect place to relax during the day, grab a pre-dinner drink, or lay back with a cocktail and watch the sun set. It is one of the only bars on the exterior of the ship, and it is perfectly set up for taking in the absolutely unbeatable views with comfy day beds, cushioned lounge chairs and even swinging chairs for two. Here you can get wine, beer, or choose from select cocktails. If you’re looking for a frozen drink, you’ll have to head back to the Local Bar and Grill for that, but it may be a little too tough to peel yourself away from the spectacular view!

Norwegian Prima Speedway

Prima Speedway on the new cruise ship Norwegian Prima

It may not be the first new cruise ship with a go-kart race track, but the race track on the Norwegian Prima is really amped up compared to other ships. Longer, larger, and zoomier than ever, the Prima Speedway twists and turns across the three top decks of the ship. But if jumping behind the wheel of a go-kart isn’t really your thing, you can still participate in the fun. Head up to the observation deck where you can grab a speedometer and check the speed of the racers going by and root for your favorite driver. Don’t forget to stop by the Prima Speedway Bar afterwards for a refreshing drink!

Indulge Food Hall

Indulge Food Hall on the new cruise ship Norwegian Prima

If you’re looking for a quick service food option but the buffet isn’t really your style, Indulge Food Hall is the place for you. The chefs here took their inspiration from around the world when crafting the menu so there is a little something for everyone, with entree options that range from Italian and Indian to Latin and American. They’ve got both indoor and outdoor tables as well as bar and lounge seating, with tablets for ordering at every table. Our favorite eatery in Indulge was Nudls, which offers classic noodle dishes like pad thai or mac & cheese, as well as more unique noodles from all over the world. An extra treat available at Indulge Food Hall on the Norwegian Prima is Q Texas Smokehouse. A standard for Norwegian, it is typically a specialty restaurant with an upcharge on other ships, but it is complimentary on the Prima!

The Best Cruise Ship Specialty Dining

Specialty dining on the new cruise ship Norwegian Prima

All the best cruise ships have too many amazing specialty restaurants to check out, and Norwegian Prima is no different. Dining at one of these restaurants will incur an upcharge,  but they are definitely worth the extra cost! Check out Cagney’s Steakhouse for premium cuts, jumbo crab cakes, and parmesan truffle fries. Head over to Le Bistro for a romantic french experience, or maybe to Los Lobos for premier Mexican cuisine with a modern twist. For Japanese cuisine, get a seat at a shared table at Hasuki and watch your chef shrimp, steak, chicken and fried rice right in front of you, or grab some sake and sushi at the Nama Sushi & Sashimi bar. Onda follows in the footsteps of its critically acclaimed sister restaurant, Scarpetta, and brings unique Italian cuisine out to sea. To top it all off, the new cruise ship introduces Palomar, Norwegian’s first-ever Mediterranean restaurant which serves European seafood with sophistication and elegance.
